Blockade Against Blockade: Cypriot Armenians Take Similar Actions Against Azerbaijan

During the Azerbaijan-Cyprus football match, we tried to respond in the same way: blockade against blockade, Chairman of the Armenian National Committee of Cyprus Hakob Kazanchyan said in a live broadcast of Alpha News, commenting on a recent flash mob in support of Artsakh.

“50 volunteers blocked the gate through which the Azerbaijani team was supposed to leave. We allowed them to leave only an hour after the blockage. Thus, we responded to Azerbaijan by blocking them the way they did with Artsakh: blockade against blockade. I would also like to note that we do not have Turkish or Azerbaijani embassies in Cyprus. Cyprus has not established diplomatic relations with these two enemy states. We are trying to contribute to the struggle of Artsakh with our actions”, Kazanchyan noted.

He has also mentioned that, over the past two years, the National Assembly of Cyprus has adopted resolutions in favor of Artsakh and condemned Azerbaijan.

“Before the 44-day war, we had been regularly visiting Artsakh, but the war slowed down our further actions. However, we will continue to do our job and support the Armenians of Artsakh,” Kazanchyan concluded.
