The financial assistance of around €50 million that the European Union intends to allocate to Armenia will resolve absolutely nothing in terms of economic support for the country, Alexey Overchuk, deputy prime minister of the Russian Federation, told Interfax.

“This resolves absolutely nothing. These are not the right figures. Our trade volumes with Armenia are on a completely different scale, I don’t even want to comment on this,” Overchuk said.

Earlier, Ursula von der Leyen, president of the European Commission, stated that the EU is preparing a financial support package for Armenia of around €50 million in connection with what she described as Russian “economic pressure” on the country.
