Russia will always have an interest in a strong Armenia: Zakharova

Russia has always been and will always be interested in a strong and truly sovereign Armenia, and wishes the brotherly people peace and prosperity, said Maria Zakharova, official spokesperson of the Russian MFA.

“In Moscow, there has always been and will always be an interest in a strong and truly sovereign Armenia. The Armenian people are a brotherly people to us, we wish them peace and prosperity,” Zakharova said in a comment following the parliamentary elections held in the republic.

At the same time, the diplomat emphasized that Armenian society’s desire for the development of Russian-Armenian ties and Armenia’s continued participation in Eurasian integration structures is evident.

“Armenian society has a clear and broad desire for the steady development of Russian-Armenian ties and for Armenia’s continued presence in Eurasian integration structures, which brings the Armenian people tangible and significant benefits,” Zakharova added.
