Shant Sargsyan defeats Magnus Carlsen at Team World Rapid Chess Championship in Hong Kong

Armenian chess player Shant Sargsyan defeated Magnus Carlsen, five-time world champion, in another round of the Team World Rapid Chess Championship, the Armenian Chess Federation reports.

In round 7 of the 2026 Team World Rapid Chess Championship, currently underway in Hong Kong, China, Armenian grandmaster Shant Sargsyan defeated Magnus Carlsen, the world’s top-rated player, according to the federation’s statement.
