Brawl breaks out at Yerevan Council of Elders session between Civil Contract faction and opposition

A brawl broke out at a session of the Yerevan Council of Elders between representatives of the Civil Contract faction and the opposition.

During the session, members of the opposition “Mother Armenia” faction accused the ruling party of pre-election violations. In response, Deputy Mayor Armen Pambukhchyan stated that Andranik Tevanyan, leader of the “Mother Armenia” party, is facing charges of treason, and suggested that his opponents keep quiet.

The verbal altercation that followed escalated into a brawl. The city council session was called into recess.
