Yerevan must answer the question of its strategic choice between the EAEU and the EU as soon as possible. This was stated by Maria Zakharova, official spokesperson of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

According to her, Armenia’s conduct cannot be described as good-faith membership in the EAEU. The diplomat added that, based on statements by the Armenian authorities, participation in the EAEU is currently for Yerevan merely a temporary measure in preparation for joining the EU.

“With his latest statements about the EAEU, Pashinyan is steering the conversation away from the point and into the realm of demagoguery, just as was already the case with the freezing of Armenia’s participation in the CSTO,” Zakharova said.
