Armenia’s CEC rejects Prosecutor General’s Office request to prosecute Narek Karapetyan

At today’s session of the Central Election Commission, Nune Hovhannisyan, Deputy Chairperson, announced that Armenia’s Prosecutor General’s Office had earlier submitted a request to the CEC seeking consent to initiate criminal prosecution and deprive Narek Karapetyan of his liberty.

However, the CEC returned the request, since, under the Electoral Code, the rights and obligations of a parliamentary candidate apply to him only until July 4, 2026.
