Strait of Hormuz becomes new epicenter of war: Aram Shahnazaryan

The events unfolding in the Strait of Hormuz indicate the failure of the negotiation process and the start of a new phase of war. This was stated to Alpha News by Aram Shahnazaryan, public figure and former editor-in-chief of the newspaper “Aliq.”
“It’s clear that the previous negotiations have effectively stopped, and hostilities have entered a new phase. The situation around the Strait of Hormuz can be described as the beginning of the ‘Battle for Hormuz.’ Right now Iran is seeking to maintain its position, strategic advantage, and full control over the strait, while the US is trying to change the rules of the game,” Shahnazaryan noted.
According to him, the terms of the negotiations around which the process was supposed to unfold were unfavorable for the US and especially for President Donald Trump. As Shahnazaryan noted, a number of international experts, including Western and American ones, also argued that such negotiations created the impression of a capitulation by Washington, since the US agreed to begin discussions on terms proposed by Iran.
“I had no doubt that, given the position of the American administration and Trump’s style of action, they would break off this negotiation process at some point,” Shahnazaryan added.
