Death toll from earthquakes in Venezuela exceeds 5,200

At least 5,208 people died during the earthquakes that struck Venezuela in late June. This was reported on social media by Jorge Rodríguez, Speaker of the country’s parliament.

According to his data as of July 19, 16,740 people were injured in the earthquakes, and 6,462 have been rescued. More than 17,900 people have been left homeless, and nearly 23,800 have been housed in 107 temporary camps. In total, about 31,000 rescuers and nearly 32,000 volunteers, including 2,200 foreign specialists, are working in the disaster zone.

The tremors caused the complete collapse of 190 structures and damaged another 856 buildings. Around 11,000 tons of food and more than 35.6 million liters of water have been delivered to the affected areas. Nearly 40,000 people have received medical care.
