TRIPP will serve as a tool for intelligence and logistics: Pyotr Kolchin
Political scientist Pyotr Kolchin, speaking with Alpha News, commented on the appointment of Konstantin Sokolov, a Russian-born American investor, as Head of the TRIPP+ Enterprise Fund.
According to the expert, the United States is actively promoting TRIPP as part of its plans for the Middle East.
“We see that the Iran question isn’t going away, which is why it’s important for Washington to strengthen its presence around Iran. Its northern border is, of course, a very strategic foothold that can be used for intelligence and logistics, and I’m confident TRIPP will play that role.
Overall, this suits many parties. First and foremost, it suits the Pashinyan administration, which has decided to bet on the US and Europeans and abandon good-neighborly relations with Tehran. Iran sees this perfectly well, and I’m confident we’ll witness a gradual deterioration of Iranian-Armenian relations,” Kolchin said.
According to the expert, Sokolov’s appointment reflects Donald Trump’s, President of the United States, intent to secure this asset for the Republican Party in line with Republicans’ long-term interests.
“The appointment of the relatively unknown Konstantin Sokolov to a leadership position, someone tied primarily to the Republican Party, shows that Trump wants to secure this asset specifically for the party, without the possibility of it later being passed to the Democrats, which overall aligns with the Republicans’ broader long-term economic interests,” Kolchin concluded.
