In an interview with Alpha News, German politician Waldemar Herdt noted that other countries have their own interests in the region that do not coincide with those of any of the parties.

“Naturally, such meetings and discussions at such a high level play a certain role in resolving the conflict. Although, this is my personal opinion, all these events are very similar to pig shearing: great cry and little wool. It should be understood that these bodies are only advisory and political in nature.

Therefore, I believe that Armenia should not have involved other parties, be it England or France, which have nothing to do with this conflict. It would have been better to sit down at the negotiating table with those countries that are actually interested in solving this problem such as Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia. In that case, some results from these negotiations would have been achieved long ago.

I have already said that the last time Armenia “made advances” to Britain, it lost Ararat. And now I also want to ask all those who shouted – “France will help us”, “the international community will help us”, I want to ask them, “Well, did they actually help you?”. They will not help you, because they have other interests in the region that do not coincide with those of any of the parties. In Europe, this topic is not covered at all, no one talks about it. I haven’t seen it practically anywhere in the media space. Therefore, I once again draw the attention of those regional countries that are actually interested in resolving this problem – anyone from the outside would rather harm than help. Thus, it is necessary to sit down at the negotiating table and seek compromises,” the politician stressed.
