Metaxe Hakobyan: We were represented by the person, whose faction recognized Artsakh as part of Azerbaijan

Artsakh initially had no expectations from the UN Security Council meeting, since our state would be represented by the person whose faction recognized Artsakh as part of Azerbaijan, Member of the Justice faction of the National Assembly of Artsakh Metaxe Hakobyan stated in an interview with Alpha News.

“Initially, there were no positive expectations, because it is somehow unclear when someone, at least verbally recognizing Artsakh as part of Azerbaijan, goes to protect your interests. There were no expectations, on the contrary, there was concern that something might go wrong, and someone would voice that Artsakh as part of Azerbaijan. The only positive thing I can say is that, in the end, no country directly stated that Artsakh is Azerbaijan,” Hakobyan said.

The Artsakh MP is convinced that there could be no expectations, because the Armenian side failed in diplomatic terms․

“It was definitely unacceptable for us to come to such a meeting and only present the humanitarian side of the problem, since we have been saying for more than a year that any problem in Artsakh is not exclusively humanitarian. Artsakh ended up in such a state as a result of the failed policy. Even now, our top priority is the problem of bread, but it is not a humanitarian problem. It is a political problem that must be solved,” Metaxe Hakobyan concluded.
