Ismail Baghaei, spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that the Strait of Hormuz will never return to its pre-war situation. His remarks were reported by the Iranian news agency Fars.

According to the spokesperson for Iran’s foreign policy department, the current negotiations between Iran and Oman regarding the waterway have no bearing on the question of opening or closing Hormuz. He stressed that the closure of the strait was caused by sabotage on the part of the United States and the naval blockade of the Islamic Republic.

As Baghaei noted, the talks were bilateral, and their subject, reaching a mechanism that would take Iranian interests into account, is not new and has long been a topic of discussion. The Foreign Ministry spokesperson added that Tehran acts based on its own interests, and it will not change its decision under the influence of threats coming from other parties.
