“We will support the Armenian Apostolic Church with all our resources”: Narek Karapetyan

Narek Karapetyan, head of the Strong Armenia faction, spoke with journalists about the work of the National Assembly, relations between the Church and the state, and his team’s first steps on the political field.

Commenting on the absence of the Catholicos of All Armenians from the first session of the National Assembly, the MP noted that it had always been important for the Armenian Patriarch to convey his blessing to the parliament.

“His Holiness passed on to us the speech that was supposed to be delivered in the National Assembly. This is an interesting approach: from a theological point of view, one can reflect on how legitimate a government is if it does not receive the blessing of its Spiritual Father,” Karapetyan noted.

The MP also noted that his faction will support the Armenian Apostolic Church with all its resources.
