Earthquake occurs 23 km southwest of Sisian

A magnitude 3.0 earthquake was recorded on August 4 at 11:54 local time (07:54 GMT) by the seismological network of the Territorial Service of Seismic Protection under the RA Ministry of Internal Affairs, 23 km southwest of the city of Sisian, in the Armenia–Nakhichevan border zone. The epicenter’s depth was 10 km.

The geographic coordinates of the epicenter are 39.40° N latitude and 45.81° E longitude.

The intensity at the epicenter was 4 on the seismic scale. The earthquake, with a magnitude of 2–3, was felt in the cities of Sisian and Dastakert, and in the villages of Arevis, Tanahat, Tasik, Salvard, and Torunik in Syunik Province.
