Nikol Pashinyan, Prime Minister of Armenia, speaking with Russian journalists in Kyrgyzstan, stated that Armenia’s rapprochement with the European Union was “provoked by some colleagues from the EAEU.”
“The European Union is a substantial trade and economic partner for Armenia, but the question now is not one of comparison, but of creating alternatives for Armenia. Some colleagues from the EAEU provoked this process by claiming that no one needs Armenia and that it isn’t wanted anywhere. We took this signal not negatively, but positively, and started working, since the situation in reality is quite different,” he added, alluding to a statement by Alexander Lukashenko, President of Belarus: “Who needs Armenia?”
