“You have gazed into the abyss for so long that the abyss has gazed back at you”: Vardevanyan to CC members

Officials responsible for governance over the past 8 years should be careful with their choice of words, said Aram Vardevanyan, Vice-Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia, addressing deputies from the Civil Contract (CC) party in parliament.

Speaking about electoral processes and government policy, Vardevanyan drew parallels between previous and recent elections.

“Compare the 2026 and 2018 elections. It seems as though you have gazed into the abyss for so long that the abyss has gazed back at you, and you have gradually taken responsibility for the obvious election violations,” Vardevanyan said.
