Russian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Mikhail Yevdokimov was summoned to the republic’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Azerbaijani media report, citing the country’s Foreign Ministry.
“During the meeting, the Russian side was informed of serious concern and a firm protest regarding provocative, insulting, and threatening statements against Azerbaijan, its people, and its leadership that have recently appeared in the Russian media space.
The diplomat’s particular attention was drawn to remarks made on August 13, 2026, in a program of the project “Frequency of Understanding.” In addition, the Azerbaijani side recalled the absurd statements made on Sputnik radio on August 7 about including Azerbaijan’s leadership on Russia’s “list of terrorists and extremists,” as well as the publication of insulting and provocative material on YouTube on August 9 and on the “Spas” TV channel on August 16,” the statement says.
The Foreign Ministry “emphasized the categorical unacceptability of discussing possibilities of interference in the country’s internal processes and calls for physical violence.” “It was noted that the continuation of such rhetoric, in an even harsher form, despite repeated warnings and discussions at various political levels, raises deep concern. At the conclusion of the meeting, the Russian ambassador was once again presented with the demand to take immediate and effective measures to end the anti-Azerbaijani campaign and aggressive rhetoric in Russia’s information space,” the statement notes.
