Leader of Azerbaijani diaspora detained in Perm for brokering a bribe

Russia’s FSB Directorate for Perm Krai reported today, August 21, the detention of a foreign national involved in offering to broker a bribe. The detention was carried out with the support of Rosgvardia (National Guard) forces.

According to Properm. ru, the individual is Ruslan Mamed oglu Mamedov, a citizen of Azerbaijan. On August 19, he failed to appeal his detention until October 7 in the Perm Regional Court, the court confirmed.

According to the security service, the man, a native of Azerbaijan and one of the leaders of the national diaspora, offered to illegally halt the criminal prosecution of a Perm resident in exchange for a monetary payment to unidentified law enforcement officers.

Russia’s Investigative Committee has opened and is investigating a criminal case under signs of an offense provided for in Part 5, Article 291.1 of Russia’s Criminal Code. The FSB specified that Mamedov has been barred from entering the territory of the Russian Federation until June 4, 2076, in accordance with Federal Law No. 114-Federal Law “On the Procedure for Exiting and Entering the Russian Federation.”
