Data showing pesticides detected in every second sample of fruit and vegetable products is alarming, said Harutyun Mnatsakanyan, MP from the Strong Armenia faction, at a National Assembly session, noting that citizens are not protected from the effects of agrochemicals.

“On September 15, the ‘Safe Food’ platform published an article whose headline alone is a verdict: ‘Pesticides found in every second sample of fruits and vegetables.’ Not every 103rd, not every 10th, but every second sample. Imagine that number. It’s like playing the lottery and always losing. In other words, we are in no way protected from the effects of agrochemicals,” he said.

According to Mnatsakanyan, this concerns the results of state monitoring, and the issue affects all citizens without exception.

“What is banned in Brussels, Washington, and Moldova ends up, in our country, on the plates of our elderly parents and our children — your children,” the MP noted.
