Second president being held in custody so their rating doesn’t drop: Kristine Vardanyan

People are being detained, arrested, and imprisoned to maintain a political force’s rating. And it doesn’t matter whether this is done within the framework of justice or not. It’s specifically about the rating. This is what Kristine Vardanyan, MP from the “Armenia” faction, said during a discussion on “Domestic political developments in Armenia” at the Alpha Media Centre.

According to her, an earlier statement by one of the ruling party’s MPs that changing the pretrial measure for Robert Kocharyan, Second President of the Republic of Armenia, would deal an irreversible blow to the authorities’ image and affect their rating indicates that political calculations may be tied to criminal proceedings against people.

“They are holding the second president in custody so that their rating doesn’t drop. That’s exactly what this admission is about,” the MP said.
