“I love the Armenian intelligentsia, and I am proud of it, and all the froth will soon subside”: Margarita Simonyan

Margarita Simonyan, Editor-in-Chief of the international group Rossiya Segodnya and the RT television channel, shared a letter from an Armenian writer to her on her Telegram channel.

“Armenian writer and publicist Meruzhan Ter-Gulanyan sent me a letter:

‘Dear Margarita,
I watched Andrey’s program. Everything was very moving and beautiful. How nobly and elegantly you carry your pain. How sincere you were, and at the same time composed…

The thing is, I had the good fortune of knowing your wonderful husband, Tigran. He had an extraordinary inner fire. He was a true patriot and a man devoted to the Armenian people. Once again, I express my condolences to you and regret that I will no longer see him on the social and political programs of Russian television channels.

Dear Margarita, once again, please accept my admiration for the way of life you lead together with your mother-in-law and mother. I am in awe of your human and moral qualities. May God protect you and your children.

As for the people who spread unpleasant rumors in Armenia and allow themselves to say unworthy things about you, I want to say just one thing: this is the opinion of certain individuals and certain pro-government circles, but it in no way reflects the attitude of all Armenians toward you. I want you to know: you are greatly loved, respected and admired in Armenia, especially by the intelligentsia.’

Thank you, that means a lot to me. I also love the Armenian intelligentsia, and I am proud of it. And all the froth will soon subside,” Simonyan wrote.
