Sodi World Series–Play City partnership under threat: Gurgen Dalibaltayan

The long-standing partnership between Sodi World Series (SWS) and Play City, as well as the further development of karting in Armenia, is under threat. This was stated at a press conference by Gurgen Dalibaltayan, member of the governing body of the Play City sports club, referee, and manager of Armenia’s national team at international competitions.

According to Dalibaltayan, the enormous effort and funds invested over many years are now facing serious obstacles, and as a result, the development of the sport has come to a halt.

“We started this process a long time ago and did a great deal of work. Thanks to considerable effort and investment, we were able to acquire the racing cars that are key to Sodi World Series and make it possible to hold tournaments that meet international standards. That same large-scale work also earned us the corresponding quotas. Last year, in the team standings, we had a quota allocated per region: the three South Caucasus countries together received just one quota, and it went to Armenia. This was the result of two to three years of intense work, in which we spared neither effort nor resources. However, at the moment our development process has been temporarily interrupted, and the current situation puts the results we have achieved at risk. We are counting on support that will allow us to restore our operations and make full use of the infrastructure we have built,” Gurgen Dalibaltayan said.
