Swimmer Varsenik Manucharyan ranks first at University International Sports Festival

Varsenik Manucharyan was ranked first at the University International Sports Festival held in Yekaterinburg, Russia, showing a result of 1.02.11 in the 100m butterfly competition. In general, Varsenik competed in 3 swimming races, winning one bronze and one gold medal, and setting 3 new records of the country: 50 m., 100 m. and 200 m. in butterfly swimming races. Besides, Armenian sambo wrestlers Arshavir Baghramyan and Aram Aghajanyan earned silver and bronze, respectively.

Earlier, boxers Hayk Alaberkyan and Ruslan Aslikyan became winners of the festival. 51 kg Hayk Alaberkyan won 5-0 against the representative of Azerbaijan in the final, and 57 kg Ruslan Aslikyan defeated the representative of Venezuela. Vladimir Markaryan’s team was winning even before the final. Another Armenian boxer, 80 kg Hamlet Harutyunyan, became a bronze medalist. The festival is held on August 19-31, with athletes participating in 7 sports: boxing, wrestling, sambo, judo, table tennis and swimming.
