Karekin II discusses authorities’ unconstitutional actions against Armenian Church with lawyers

On October 6, Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II met at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin with a group of prominent lawyers, human rights defenders and constitutional law specialists. The meeting discussed existing problems in relations between the Church and the state, as well as National Assembly initiatives concerning the Armenian Church.

Participants condemned the creation of a National Assembly inquiry commission on the Armenian Church, calling it a clear violation of the Constitution and an attempt to interfere in the Church’s internal life and self-governance.
