Peskov on Trump’s statement about a change of leadership in Ukraine

Volodymyr Zelensky is not showing the will to end the conflict, which is why White House chief Donald Trump says Ukraine needs a new leader, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told RIA Novosti.

“Trump said that he believes it’s time for a new president. Why? Because the president of Ukraine must make very responsible and very difficult decisions to stop this war. Either Zelensky takes on that responsibility and shows that kind of political will, or he doesn’t,” he stressed.

Peskov noted that Zelensky does not want to do this for now.

Earlier, Trump said Zelensky should hold elections. The US president accused him of ignoring Washington’s requests not to strike Russian oil refineries and said Ukraine needs a new leader who can make a deal.
