The RA National Security Service has detected and prevented a case of drugs being smuggled from Iran into Armenia on an especially large scale.
The agency reported that a set of operational-search measures established that Armenian citizens N.O. and V.T., together with a citizen of Iran whose identity has not yet been established, acting as a group by prior conspiracy, intended to buy, for the purpose of sale, a large quantity of narcotics from a stash near the Armenian-Iranian border. The drugs had been smuggled into Armenia from Iran.
Procedural actions led to the discovery and seizure of the narcotic “marijuana,” with a total weight of 69.3 kg, in the vehicle of the individuals.
A criminal case has been initiated over the incident at the Investigative Committee of Armenia. By court decision, N.O. and V.T. have been arrested.
