Artak Hovhannisyan, father of Albert Hovhannisyan, an Artsakh hero killed in the 44-day war, commented on the removal of his son’s photograph from the wall at the main entrance of Victory Park. He said the issue would not be forgotten, silenced or devalued by vague promises.

“In response to your many letters, questions and expressions of concern, I consider it necessary to clarify the following. I am the father of Albert Hovhannisyan, the Hero. On September 26, I made a public post about the unacceptable removal of my son’s heroic and symbolic photograph from the wall of Victory Park. This was followed by numerous interviews, and questions and concerns were raised.
But what happened after that? Silence.

I have no information on whether there was a discussion at City Hall, who took part, in what format, what decisions were made, or whether nothing was done at all. Today I know exactly as much as you do. Should the name, face and memory of a hero who gave his life for this country really be consigned to oblivion and silence?

I am not asking for privileges or personal favors. I expect respect for my son’s heroic deed, for his memory and for the dignity of all of us. History is not made by erasing the memory of heroes. And silence does not close questions.

P.S. From now on, let no one expect goodwill or tolerance from me on this matter. When it comes to the honor, heroic deed and memory of my son, Albert Hovhannisyan, a Hero, let no one count on my silence, compliance or endless patience.

My patience is not unlimited, and there will be no concessions on the memory of my son. The public demand exists and will remain until this issue receives a proper resolution. And let no one be mistaken in thinking that society, out of respect for my word, is patiently waiting or is ready to wait indefinitely. Patience is not silence, respect is not refusal, and stalling is not a solution. This issue will not be forgotten, silenced or devalued by vague promises. This is about the memory of Albert Hovhannisyan, the Hero, his heroic deed and our national dignity. The demand is clear, and the waiting is not endless. The issue must be resolved. And the public demand will be heard until this becomes a reality,” he wrote.
