During the preliminary investigation of a criminal case initiated at the Investigative Committee of Armenia, factual data was obtained on the smuggling of 69.34 kg of marijuana.

The committee reported that measures carried out during the preliminary investigation jointly with officers of the National Security Service of Armenia established that a foreign national smuggled a large quantity of a narcotic substance, on an especially large scale, into Armenia and placed it in the border zone, from where two Armenian citizens picked it up in their car. During a search, bags filled with 69.34 kg of marijuana were found.

By a prosecutor’s decision, public criminal prosecution has been launched against two Armenian citizens under the articles “illegal trafficking of narcotic drugs on an especially large scale with intent to sell or their illegal sale” and “aiding the smuggling of narcotic drugs on an especially large scale.” They have been arrested.

The preliminary investigation of the criminal case is ongoing.
