Witkoff sees basis for ceasefire in Ukraine conflict

Steve Witkoff, special envoy of the US president, said at a meeting with Vladimir Putin, president of Russia, that there is a basis for reaching a cessation of fire in the Ukraine conflict.

The conversation is taking place at Konstantinovsky Palace in St. Petersburg. Taking part in the talks on the Russian side are Yuri Ushakov, aide to the Russian president, and Kirill Dmitriev, special representative of the Russian president for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries and head of RDIF.

“I hope that we really have created the necessary basis to successfully bring about an end to the fighting in this Ukrainian-Russian conflict,” Witkoff said.
