The next court hearing in the criminal case brought on unfounded charges against Gagik Tsarukyan, leader of the Prosperous Armenia party, as well as Sedrak Arustamyan, Artur Dallakyan and several others, will be held on November 4 at 2: 00 p.m., the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) said in a statement.
“The hearing will consider changing Gagik Tsarukyan’s measure of restraint. We are confident that Gagik Tsarukyan and the others charged in this case are targets of political persecution. In our view, this fact needs no further proof. Setting aside the emotional side of this unlawful persecution, one fundamental legal point must be noted.
The preliminary investigation has been completed, and the criminal case has been sent to court. Therefore, Gagik Tsarukyan’s continued detention no longer has any reasonable grounds. In light of all the above, we expect the court to make a balanced, fair and lawful decision by replacing the measure of restraint imposed on Gagik Tsarukyan with a different one. There is no alternative to Gagik Tsarukyan’s immediate release. The entire PAP team, together with representatives of its regional branches and tens of thousands of supporters, will fight for justice to prevail. We are unwavering in our struggle,” the party said in its statement
