“The family has debts, but celebrates dad’s birthday at the most expensive restaurant”: Ghazinyan on the budget

During the National Assembly’s debate on the draft 2027 state budget, Davit Ghazinyan, an MP from the Strong Armenia faction, addressed Lilit Makunts, Chief of Staff to the Prime Minister of Armenia, comparing government spending to the budget of an average Armenian family.
According to Ghazinyan, if the government changes, a thorough, detailed analysis of state spending would make it possible to cut it significantly.
“I’m sure spending would drop several times over after a line-by-line review. Under the country’s current circumstances, some expenses can be compared to those of our average Armenian family: there are debts, there’s the question of paying for the child’s education, but they decide that dad’s birthday must be celebrated at the most expensive restaurant,” Ghazinyan said.
