Vladimir Vardanyan has been elected President of the Constitutional Court. In a secret ballot in the National Assembly, 67 MPs voted for Vardanyan’s candidacy and none voted against.
It was reported earlier that the Constitutional Court had twice failed to elect its president. In secret ballots, neither of the candidates, Edgar Shatiryan and Vladimir Vardanyan (both Constitutional Court judges), received enough votes in favor to be elected.
