Dutch judokas withdraw from judo tournament in Baku due to escalation in Artsakh
As the Netherlands Broadcasting Corporation reports, the Dutch judokas will not participate at the Grand Slam tournament for security reasons due to the escalation of the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh.
The Grand Slam will be held in Azerbaijan on September 22-24.
The Judo Association of the Netherlands has announced that it has decided not to send its athletes to Baku.
“The decision was made solely for security reasons. Although Baku is located 300 km from the place of escalation, it is unclear how the situation will develop. We are not sure if we will be able to stay safe there,” Jeroen de Bruin, a spokesperson of the association, said.
