ICRC has not yet visited persons arrested by Azerbaijan

Representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) have not yet visited Ruben Vardanyan, Levon Mnatsakanyan, David Manukyan and David Babayan who were arrested by Azerbaijan, Spokesperson for Armenia in ICRC Zara Amatuni told Tert.am.

“This is a confidential topic; I cannot share procedural issues. We do not publish figures and procedures. If the visit happens, we confirm it. We also confirm the contact with relatives. So, I do not have any other comments. But we are monitoring the situation,” Amatuni said.

When asked if they had visited other prisoners of war on September 19-20 and whether they could tell the number of new prisoners, Amatuni said that data was being collected.

“I can say that the issue related to the detained persons is the focus of our attention. We cannot provide information about how many people we are talking about, but we accept and register those people who are looking for their relatives, assuming that they may be arrested,” Amatuni said.
