Russia notices attempts to promote the interests of NATO countries in the South Caucasus through Armenia, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told reporters after the meeting of the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers.
“As for stirring up anti-Russian sentiments, it is done artificially to a considerable extent. We know about non-governmental organizations that have been created in Armenia in recent years, there were many of them before as well. These organizations are not created to promote friendly relations between Armenia and Russia, but on the contrary, their goal is to create here a basis for anti-Russian sentiments and preparations for the promotion of interests of the United States, the European Union, and NATO countries in this region through Armenia. We notice these attempts, they achieve some results,” Lavrov said.
It should be noted that at the meeting of the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers, Armenia is represented by Deputy Foreign Minister Mnatsakan Safaryan.
