Moscow considers the meeting in Malta in the so-called ‘Copenhagen format’ as a demonstrative anti-Russian gesture of official Yerevan, Spokesperson of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova said at a press briefing on Thursday.
“Earlier, the wife of Prime Minister Anna Hakobyan and Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia Alen Simonyan came to Kyiv. They contacted Stepanchuk in Dublin. Pashinyan himself talked with Zelensky in Granada,” Zakharova said.
According to her, official Yerevan should be aware that these are demonstrative advances to those who aggressively oppose Russia.
“There is no other definition. It is regrettable that the current authorities of the country purposefully and persistently destroy our allied relations, which they themselves called the most important factor of stability and prosperity of Armenia.
As for a number of Armenian media, which are paid through resources affiliated with government agencies or officials, and their anti-Russian rhetoric, there is no need to say anything. This is already an undisguised Russophobic context on the verge of nationalism toward our country. We understand who is behind the financing of these resources,” Zakharova concluded.
