French-Armenian tenor Rouben Elbakian awarded Gold Medal for his charity work

French-Armenian tenor Rouben Elbakian was awarded a new Gold Medal by the prestigious French institution ‘La Ligue Universelle du Bien Public’ (Universal League of Public Welfare) for his charitable actions. The institution rewards people who are engaged in public activities. Among those distinguished are big names such as Winston Churchill, Franklin Roosevelt, John Fitzgerald Kennedy, Louis Armstrong, Abé Pierre, Professor Christian Cabrol, and others.

At the end of the awards ceremony, Elbakian performed a triumphant Marseillaise.

This is the second Gold Medal awarded to the French-Armenian tenor for his charitable recitals. The first one was awarded in 2021 by the Grand Prix Humanitaire de France in the French Senate.

In 2011, Elbakian was crowned Knight of the Military Order of Napoleonic Memory by the World Community of Napoleon in Monaco and ranked by the prestigious Journal LUXURY among the 57 famous Armenians in the world alongside Charles Aznavour, Henri Verneuil, and Michel Legrand.

During his thank-you speech, Elbakian drew the attention of the nominees and guests to the current reality of his homeland, Armenia, and expressed his desire to perform a charity concert in Yerevan in support of the forcibly displaced people of Artsakh.
