Stéphane Dujarric: Significant steps have been taken towards normalizing relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan

Significant steps have been taken in the past few weeks towards normalizing relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Spokesperson for the UN Secretary General Stéphane Dujarric told the Azerbaijani news agency Report.

“The Secretary General welcomed these steps, and we are committed to supporting Armenia and Azerbaijan as they move on the path towards normalization,” the official said.

According to Dujarric, António Guterres does not want to involve himself in any process just for the sake of being involved, but the UN is always ready to support the framework that exists.

Dujarric also said that Guterres will visit Baku to attend the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
