Alexey Zudin, a senior lecturer at the Moscow State University of International Relations, commented to Alpha News on the visit of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to St. Petersburg for the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council and the informal CIS meeting.

According to the expert, the Prime Minister of Armenia is pursuing the wrong foreign policy.

“Pashinyan is cautiously parting with Russia. These are not sudden movements; he is consistently curtailing and limiting contacts, primarily in the defense sector. As we can see, political movements persist, but still, this policy is wrong, according to most experts. Russia is a historical neighbor, a historical ally. And those with whom he is trying to build new relationships are not neighbors. They have a bad reputation. The example of Ukraine is proof of how they treat their allies or those whom they call allies.

That is, he seems to want to move away, but he is doing it slowly. If you completely stop contacts, it will be like a sharp break. Slowness is a sign of caution. It is better than a sharp breakup. But in any case, this is the wrong policy,” Zudin said.
