The US government needs to mobilize regional support for Armenians’ right to self-defense and self-determination and advocate for the safe return of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) Armenians to their historic homeland, presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said in his video message posted on X.

He noted that starting from 2020, Azerbaijan is carrying out merciless ethnic cleansing against the Armenians of Artsakh, and in September of this year, Azerbaijan attacked and displaced the entire 120,000 Armenian population from their land.

“While the world’s attention is focused on Gaza and Israel, no one hears anything about the mass displacement of the entire population of one of the ancient Armenian territories. Empty condemnation of ethnic cleansing is not enough. Unlike the 1915 genocide, this one is reversible. This is a situation where peaceful sanctions can work. The United States still has leverage in that region, and it can use this power to mobilize all the peoples of the region to reverse this humanitarian tragedy. Also, there is a need to look for ways to lift Armenia’s blockade by Turkiye and Azerbaijan. Armenia is a landlocked country and should have access to the ports of neighboring countries,” the US politician said.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. assured that if elected US president, he will contribute to the restoration of Armenia and Artsakh. He added that he will use diplomacy, as well as the US moral authority, economic leverage, and sanctions, to restore Armenia. He noted that he wants to do this peacefully; instead of starting a new war somewhere, he would like to stop one of them.
