French Foreign Ministry denies accusations of interference in Azerbaijan’s internal affairs

The French Foreign Ministry denies accusations of interference in the internal affairs of Azerbaijan and demanded the release of a French national detained earlier in Baku, the press service of the country’s foreign ministry reports.

“We categorically reiterate our rejection of the allegations presented by Azerbaijan to justify its hostile actions towards us,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The Ministry also reiterated its position regarding the detention of a French national in Azerbaijan. The Ministry noted that at the moment, the detainee has been visited twice by the French embassy in Baku. Diplomats are in contact with his family.

“We consider this detention arbitrary and demand the immediate release of our compatriot,” the French Foreign Ministry added.
