Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan met with Kamal Kharazi, Advisor to Iran’s Supreme Leader and Head of the Strategic Council for Foreign Relations on January 29, the press center of the Armenian Foreign Ministry reported.

The sides discussed various aspects of Armenian-Iranian cooperation, noting the high level of political dialogue between the two countries and the active dynamics of the relations. The sides underscored the importance of close cooperation between the two countries in energy, infrastructure, economic and other areas, joint projects for the benefit of the friendship of the two peoples and stability in the region.

Taking the opportunity, Mirzoyan once again expressed his condolences in connection with the terrorist attack that took place in Iranian Kerman earlier this year.

Mirzoyan and Kharazi also discussed a set of issues related to security and stability in the South Caucasus. Mirzoyan briefed Kharazi on Armenia’s approaches, emphasizing the need for unconditional respect for the territorial integrity, inviolability of borders, and sovereignty of the Republic of Armenia, including as a guarantee for ensuring lasting peace in the region.

In the context of unblocking regional communications, Ararat Mirzoyan highly appreciated the positive position of Iran on the “Crossroads of Peace” project developed by the Government of Armenia and its key principles.
