Cosmo Jarvis, born Harrison Cosmo Krikoryan Jarvis, stars in the historical drama limited series ‘Shōgun’ on Hulu and FX, reports the Armenian Film Society.

Cosmo Jarvis is a musician and actor who was born in New Jersey to an Armenian mother and an English father. He has appeared in ‘Peaky Blinders’, ‘Raised by Wolves’, ‘Lady Macbeth’, ‘Calm with Horses’, and ‘Persuasion’. In 2017 and 2020, he was nominated by the British Independent Film Awards for Most Promising Newcomer and Best Actor.

In a CRUSHfanzine interview, he was asked whether he is attached to Armenian culture. He said, “My grandparents were Armenian immigrants… I do find it fascinating that the Armenian Genocide of 1915-1923 is still not acknowledged by some nations. To me it’s a great insight into the true priorities of the administrators of human civilization that certain genocides and tragedies can be openly minimized or discounted all together while others happen to become essential architecture of a pop culture and society.”

‘Shōgun’ follows “the collision of two ambitious men from different worlds and a mysterious woman samurai; John Blackthorne, a risk-taking English sailor who ends up shipwrecked in Japan, a land whose unfamiliar culture will ultimately redefine him; Lord Toranaga, a shrewd, powerful daimyō, at odds with his own dangerous political rivals; and Lady Mariko, a woman with invaluable skills but dishonorable family ties, who must prove her value and allegiance.”

The series premiered with its first two episodes on February 27, 2024, with new episodes releasing weekly.
