The West, having played with and broken Ukraine, having thrown it like a battered doll into a corner, decided to look for a new victim. This new victim may well be Armenia, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said in a press briefing on Wednesday.
“We have spoken a lot about the Kiev regime and Ukraine, which were lured into the ‘Western trap’ and promised a wonderful future. The West painted everything in a better light but abandoned Ukraine. I hope this will not happen again. I hope this will not happen. This should not happen to Armenia. Because Armenia has gone through its hardest historical path, which included genocides, defending its sovereignty, fighting for its culture, and complicated territorial disputes, issues, and conflicts.
And this country and these people deserve to live in peace and under no circumstances become a bargaining chip in the hands of unscrupulous Western politicians. I believe both Russia and Azerbaijan sincerely wish peace to Armenia, because Armenia is our neighbor, and for us it is an ally,” she said.
According to Zakharova, for Russia, Armenia is a country with which it has long historical ties.
“And that is why we wholeheartedly wish peace, stability, and prosperity for this state, both out of love for this country and its people and because of pragmatics, since, as you understand, the welfare of the region depends on the country’s welfare as well.
Armenia really has historical experience and knows who has always come to the rescue, not to play along with anyone’s particular individual interests but to ensure global peace in the region and preserve stability, which is the guarantee of life and prosperity of people,” Zakharova noted.
