Armenia will quit the CSTO if the organization fails to fulfill its obligations and does not recognize its area of responsibility, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said in a press conference on Tuesday.
“We have actually frozen our participation in the CSTO; we don’t participate in the meetings. We expect an answer to only one question: what is the organization’s area of responsibility in Armenia? All the problems started from the moment official Yerevan raised this issue,” he said.
According to Pashinyan, Armenian border guards sent a letter to their Russian colleagues, notifying them that Armenian border guards have the required skills and knowledge to conduct service at the Zvartnots airport on their own.
In his words, the letter expressed gratitude to the Russian border guards for their service and said that the Armenian border guard service had acquired enough experience, skills, and knowledge to conduct the service at Zvartnots airport without Russia’s assistance.edited 13:41
