Russia urges Armenia and Azerbaijan to stop bellicose rhetoric

Russia urges Armenia and Azerbaijan to reduce the intensity of bellicose rhetoric and warns of the dangerous role of the West, which is now starting the dirtiest game to destabilize the situation in the region, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said in a press briefing on Wednesday.

“All territorial disputes and mutual claims between Baku and Yerevan should be settled exclusively through political and diplomatic methods. We call on the sides to show the utmost restraint and reduce the intensity of belligerent rhetoric,” she said.

Zakharova added that the EU’s involvement in the Armenian-Azerbaijani dialogue is not mediation but an attempt to destabilize the situation in the region.

“There is no mediation. There are, firstly, attempts to destabilize the situation. Secondly, the return of the situation to the worst periods of the region’s history. The next point is, of course, the collection of information not for peace in the region but for their own purposes against the countries of the region,” Zakharova stressed.
