After a long break due to large-scale repair works, the doors of the Armenian Surb Amenaprkich Church have been opened in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia, the Armenian Association “Gehard” reports.
The Holy Liturgy was held in the church on June 30.
The Armenian church was included in the architectural plan of the Nizhny Novgorod Fair. By the decree of Nicholas I, it was built at the expense of the imperial treasury, and in 1828, the church was consecrated. However, in 1925, the church was destroyed.
The construction of the present church was finished in 2011. It is made of Armenian natural stone: tuff on the outside and felsite on the inside.
