Speaking with Alpha News, political scientist Robert Ustyan commented on the news that Abkhazia called on Armenia not to use phrases about Georgia’s integrity.

“Unlike the Republic of Armenia, we are lucky with our leader. At one time, our president was able to unite the Abkhazian people, the Armenian people, the Russian people, and all the other peoples who came to our aid when we were fighting for our right to live on this land, fighting for our independence. The Armenian people are unlucky. Mr. Pashinyan did everything to make hundreds of thousands of Armenians leave their homes. Now, it seems, he and his foreign minister want the same for us. But we, local Armenians and Abkhazians, will do everything to strengthen interethnic friendship,” Ustyan noted.

“As a person who specializes in Turkey and the Ankara-Yerevan negotiation process, I can say that Mr. Ararat Mirzoyan may soon face a very important dilemma because Ankara’s official authorities may force him to change his name since Mount Ararat, after which Mr. Mirzoyan is named, is located on the territory of Turkey. Now we know that one of Turkey’s demands is that Armenia remove Mount Ararat from its coat of arms. So before pointing to territorial integrity or non-integrity, I strongly advise you to mentally prepare for significant changes,” Ustyan concluded.
