The West is interested in Armenia leaving the CSTO and EAEU – Oleg Ivanov
Russian political scientist Oleg Ivanov commented on the statement of Matthew Miller, the representative of the US State Department, about the difficult choice and complex compromises to sign a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
“First of all, the West, of course, is interested in Armenia leaving two unions, namely EAEU and CSTO, in which Russia plays an important role. It is quite possible that the representatives of the State Department have this in mind.
And the second issue that Azerbaijan regularly raises is the issue of the corridor, the issue of the Azerbaijani Nakhichevan enclave. I don’t know who is raising this issue in the United States, maybe Turkey. In some ways, he puts this question so that the USA acts as a mediator, not to connect through one territory, but to create and connect an automobile or railway corridor between Azerbaijan and Nakhichevan,” the political scientist believes.
